Prince (or as many remember him, The Artist Formally Known as Prince), passed away in April of 2016 at the age of 57. Fans remember him for iconic hits like "Purple Rain," "When Doves Cry," and "Kiss". The artist had no shortage of things to say with thirty-nine studio albums, five films, and more than two dozen tours under his belt.

Yet, even after passing, Prince has more to say. His memoir, which the artist was working on at the time of his death, has finally been released posthumously on October 29, 2019.

The Beautiful Ones combines Prince's own unfinished manuscript with song lyrics, photographs, and quotes from book editor Dan Piepenbring, who was co-writing the book with Prince before Prince's death.

One of the things Prince talks about is the 1950s TV show Adventures of Superman. The show premiered in 1952, before Prince was born, and the original run finished in 1958, the year of his birth. Reruns of the show, starring George Reeves and Jack Larson, have been captivating audience members ever since, and Prince was one of them.

"It was the first show I had to see," Prince says in The Beautiful Ones. Before DVR and on-demand streaming, a "must-see" TV show was a little harder to keep up with.

"I used to rush home from school to watch it," he said.

Perhaps some of Prince's famously wild, science-fiction type outfits were inspired by our favorite alien from Krypton. "Seeing George Reeves," he says in the book, "seeing that cape flying, him on top of buildings — I wanted that."

Between Prince and Clark Kent, maybe we all need a little magic to look up to.
