Lee Majors played Joan Crawford's cheating husband in a 1964 movie
Posted: November 15, 2024, 2:50PMUncredited but memorable would be the perfect words to describe Lee Majors' earliest roles. Before playing Colt Seavers, Heath Barkley, and many other iconic roles, Majors had to get his start with minor parts, some even uncredited.
For example, one of those roles included playing Joan Crawford's cheating husband in the 1964 psychological horror Strait-Jacket.
The plot consists of a woman who was released from a psychiatric hospital decades after murdering her husband and his mistress. Instead of getting adjusted to the changes of the world and reclaiming her life, she's suspected of a series of axe murders after her release.
Majors was Frank Harbin, the husband of Lucy Harbin (Crawford) and father of Carol Harbin. He only appears briefly in the movie, but he's part of the reason Lucy was admitted into a psychiatric hospital, so that's a pretty important part.
For those who have seen the movie, you'll remember the unexpected plot twist that leaves you reeling.
Strait-Jacket was Majors' first role, and it led to a Gunsmoke episode appearance a year later, followed by an appearance as Howard White in The Alfred Hitchcock Hour episode, "The Monkey's Paw – A Retelling."
