It is practically tradition that Star Trek actors will appear in other Star Trek series — think Worf on The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. The Orville, a Star Trek spoof from actor and Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, follows tradition by incorporating Trek alums both in front of and behind the camera.

You'll first recognize Penny Johnson. You probably remember Johnson as Sisko's love interest Cassidy Yates on Deep Space Nine. In The Orville, she'll be tackling the role of Dr. Claire Finn, the ship's physician.

You'll also be able to see James Horan. Horan has had a role in every modern Star Trek series. Literally. You can find him in The Next Generation, Deep Space, Voyager and Enterprise. The Orville is no exception. He will be playing the ominous Sazeron.

Alums Jonathan Frakes (Riker) and Robert Duncan McNeil (Tom Paris of Voyager) will be directing epsidoes of the series and helping to maintain the Star Trek integrity throughout the process.

Don't forget that Seth MacFarlane himself is a Star Trek alum! He had a brief appearance in Star Trek: Enterprise as Ensign Rivers. He'll be in in front of the camera for The Orville, as well.

The Orville will is set to premiere later this year on Fox. Now if only Star Trek: Discovery can catch up with The Orville.
